Eighteen months ago we didn't know what to expect from Sidney Crosby's career. It had nothing to do with the type of player he was or would become. It had everything to do with his health and whether he would fully recover from the season-ending concussions he received during the 2010-11 season.

He did. It wasn't easy or swift, but he ended the 2011-12 season healthy and there were great expectations for this year. At age 25 he was set to re-establish himself as the best player in the world.

Then came the lockout and months of exasperation.

Now hockey's back. Eighteen months ago, when the uncertainly about Sid's future was at its peak,  I wrote this piece about him, hoping that we would get to see his brillance again. With the Penguins season kicking off in ten days it seems again seems fitting to look back at what we missed. And now, what we can look forward to, again.
