Yeah...2 days have gone by, but I can't get Game 3 out of my head. How much do you blame the coach for his choice of personnel on that power play? I think the Pens are still in good shape...but there's something that bothers me greatly. I'll share it with you, plus I'm wondering if you are still confident. Was the OT loss merely a blip on the radar? Steigy at 1. OTA's are underway on the South Side. Gerry Dulac talks Steelers at 12:30. And is Jeff a Locke to solidify what is becoming a solid Pirates rotation? Bucs 9-2 last 11 games! We'll talk to Tim Williams of PirateProspects.com at 1:30.
We probably--no, definitely--spend too much time worrying about line combinations. Could change on the 2nd shift of the game. But what's the rationale behind moving Iginla off of Sid's line, and putting him on Malkin's left wing? Speaking of Iggy, of the 4 players acquired at the trade deadline, who, in your opinion, has been the most valuable? Rob Rossi talks Pens at 1. Another very good outing by Francisco Liriano. One of our regular listeners suggest this group of Pirate pitchers may be the best since the Jim Leyland teams of the early 90"s. Think about it. Maybe he's right. And Matt Williamson will talk Steelers and NFL at 1:30, Game 2 tonight, Game On for Savran on Sports!
I'll be the first to admit I'm surprised at how well the Pirates are playing. A season high 6 games over .500! Did you expect this or are you surprised/shocked by it? I know most will say, yes, but it won't last. I understand the skepticism. But I'm thinking if this starting pitching stays as good as it's been, it just might last the entire summer. Big start for Liriano tonight.
You always want to be physical in the playoffs, but how much do you want to get involved if Ottawa wants to continue gooning it up? If it puts the Pens on the power play, isn't it worth it? Today, hockey writer Jesse Spector of The Sporting News to discuss Caps conspiracy theories. The ol 29'er Phil Bourque joins me at 1, and author Frank Garland is on at 1:30 to discuss his new book about Willie Stargell
They started Game 1, Round 1 with a shutout, and yet I think the Pens were more impressive last night! I also think that if Ottawa wants to goon it up, if the Penguins make them pay on the power play, one of 2 things will happen: The Sens either change their attitude, or they get dispatched easily. Their choice. That having been said, 6 penalty kills is way too many. Please, let me have your thoughts on Game 1 and the series. We'll hear from several Pens today, plus Rob King of Root Sports at 12:30, and Seth Rohrabaugh of the Post-Gazette's Empty Netters Blog at 1:30. And even if it did take 12 innings, a win over Milwaukee is still a win over Milwaukee!! And, it's JOTW Day. VOTE!
