Last night's game was an example of what the Penguins have and most teams do not: Star power, game changing talent. But that's not enough. Some stats I've uncovered that indicates where the Pens may need to upgrade their personnel, or at the very least, their performance. Paul Steigerwald will talk Pens at 1. We'll hear from William Gay, and Gerry Dulac will offer analysis on what the signing means for the Steelers. Kevin Neary, author of the book Closer, about major league closers at 12:30. And if there is no crying in baseball, there are no ties in hockey. Someone should tell that to our friend Stephen A. Smith. By the way, what's the "A" stand for? Any guesses?
As Rich posts, Rob Rossi of Trib says 3 Columbus scouts (including Craig Patrick) were at last night's game. Apparently they have interest in Simon Despres. Did the Penguins play him last night --after being a healthy scratch 2 of the last 3--just to showcase him for the Columbus crew?
