Not only are Dan Bylsma and his assistants back...they all got 2 year contract extensions. Your thoughts? Remember: Ray Shero extended Michel Therrien too, then fired him. Tim Benz convered Shero's press conference, and will join us at 12:30, then Bob Errey will share his thoughts at 1.
Could Gerrit Cole have been any better? Amazing night...we'll hear from him and Clint Hurdle. Rob King weighs in at 1:30.
And, of course, it's JOTW Day. So, let the voting begin!
We've only just begun to dissect the Penguins collapse. In what area of hockey/position/type of player(s) do the Pens need the most help to prevent this from happening again? Paul Steigerwald will discuss at 1:00
Gerrit Cole makes his debut tonight. Is that enough to get you to go to or watch tonight's game against SF? Kent Tekulve at 12:30. Steelers gather for the last time before training camp opens on July 26th. Gerry Dulac talks Steelers and U.S. Open at 1:30.
And lastly, did Ocho Stinko deserve 30 days in the slammer?
And now, the Penguins begin to dig out of the rubble. Ray Shero has a major reclamation project on his hands. For now, let's start with the players. Who goes, who stays? If some of the biggest names HAVE to go because of cap issues, I'll tell you who my choice would be. As for Bylsma...I haven't made up my mind. I think he'll stay, but with some changes. It's a Mikey Monday, so we'll talk Pens with Mike Prisuta at 12:30 and Mike Lange at 1.
Also today, Jed Hixson, the high school coach of Pirates #1 pick Austin Meadows will join us at 12:45. And don't look now, but considering the competition, a wild card isn't necessarily a pipe dream for the Pirates.
If you're assuming the Pens can't/won't come back, does it matter if they win tonight and extend the series? Or, is it a loss is a loss is a loss? Again I'll ask, is Dan Bylsma on your hot seat? Today, we'll talk to Bob Grove of the Penguins radio network at 12:30 and Rob Rossi of the Trib at 1. Thoughts on the Pirates top picks last night? I like the fact they are taking high school kids with high upsides. Tim Williams of Pirateprospects.com at 12:45. And Matt Williamson talks about Big Ben and the Steelers at 1:30
Just wanted to clarify my post: What I'm asking today is, if the extend the series to 6 games, let's say, would it lessen your disappointment? And, more importantly, would it change management's mind as to what and how many moves they should make in the off-season?
If you hear ringing in your ears, it's not a physical ailment, it's the sound of pucks ringing off posts. Really? It was more than bad puck luck, but the Penguins may have just played their best game of the entire playoffs...and all they get a push over the playoff cliff. It's all over now. Not if, but when. They get high marks for bouncing back like that, but they still have scored only 2 goals in nearly 11 periods of hockey. Is Tuuka Rask really THAT good? We will have plenty of opportunity to talk about individual player moves, but for now, is Dan Bylsma on the hot seat? Should he be? And will his future be impacted by whether or not they get swept? Today, Phil Bourque will join us at 1, Rob King at 12:30. And the Pirates get 2 first round picks tonight. Isn't it time they get another Andrew McCutchen...or at least someone who's not a long term project...waiting 5 years before they ever get to the major leagues? If they ever do?
